Think in Next Actions Instead of Projects

Finally, a key element of GTD is the mental component of thinking of your work not simply as a series of large projects but more directly as concrete next actions. This shift from a defeatist/overwhelmed attitude to the motivational state that enables you to move forward on such tasks is a great example of shifting your mind-set in a positive way. List Item attraction/repulsion

You are either attracted or repelled by the things on your lists; there isn’t any neutral territory. You are either positively drawn toward completing the action or reluctant to think about what it is and resistant to getting involved in (Location 4570)

so true i feel this about my lists

Capture More

I suggest that you use your mind to think about things, rather than think of them. You want to be adding value as you think about projects and situations, not creating stress by simply reminding yourself they exist and you need to do something about them. To fully realize that more productive place, you will need to capture it all. It takes focus and a change of habit to train yourself to recognize and download even the smallest agreements with yourself as they’re created in your mind. Doing the capturing process as fully as you can, and then incorporating the behavior of gathering all the new things as they emerge, will be more empowering and productive than you can imagine. Dumbeldore in Movies Vs Books

“Welcome!” he said. “Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! (Location 1528)

This was different in the movie, in the movie he warns everyone about the dangers of Hogwarts

Neville Vs Bystander Effect

“There are all kinds of courage,” said Dumbledore, smiling. “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award ten points to Mr. Neville Longbottom.” (Location 3766)

Neville > bystander effect

To the Well-organized Mind, Death is but the Next Great Adventure

“If you’re going to be cursed forever, death’s better, isn’t it?” (Location 3176)
After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure. (Location 3654)

is death really all that bad? if you're ready to go? 202212281353

Imagined Fears

I am an old man, and I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened. —Mark Twain (Location 4539)

(i wonder if one of his fears was the investment that almost bankrupted him: 202304021539…or sending an unedited letter 202303261542)

“He who indulges empty fears earns himself real fears,” wrote Seneca, (Location 1565)
“There are more things … likely to frighten us than there are to crush us; we suffer more often in imagination than in reality.” -- Seneca

few to none of my anxieties have materialized irl (so far, i guess)

If You Are Going to Publish, You Must Be Willing to Tolerate Criticism

He has heard that someone has spoken ill of his writing, and he starts treating this critic as an enemy. But then he starts thinking of all the people whose writing he himself has criticized. Would he want all of them to think of him as an enemy? Certainly not. Seneca’s conclusion: If you are going to publish, you must be willing to tolerate criticism. (Location 1452)

JPG Vs. PNG – How They Differ and When to Use Each Image File Format

PNG is ideal for all types of graphics containing sharp edges and solid colors. PNG is also a good choice when you need to create screenshots or convert vector graphics into raster formats for systems that cannot display vector graphics. The alpha channel allows you to create transparent areas in an image. This is especially important when you create icons for apps and websites. (View Highlight)

PNGs have been better for compression than JPGs but I'm not sure why that is the case

AI Dilemma

…multiple advances happening within the same model/multiple ai fields merging into one
…mass deployment w different incentives
…arms race to ai spread and adoption
…persuade ai

and more!

i overall agree with the sentiment, though i reserve the right to change that opinion. and i will continue to build with this technology and post knowledge/conversations because it excites me and has made my life notably higher quality on the metrics that i care about. that said, it is a testament to ai's raw power that we should treat it with respect and slow down public integration.
