BookTalk respects your privacy. This app is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on external servers.

Data Collection

BookTalk does not collect or transmit any personal data.

  • No user accounts
  • No analytics or tracking
  • No cloud sync
  • No third-party data sharing

All content you create in the app stays on your device.

Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your device only:

  • Audio annotations
  • Photos and videos
  • Text notes
  • Transcriptions
  • App database (SQLite)

Media files are saved in the app’s Documents folder. The app may expose this folder through iOS file sharing so you can manage your own files.

Spotlight indexing uses Apple’s on-device Core Spotlight framework and does not send data off your device.

Speech transcription runs entirely on-device using Apple’s Speech framework. No audio or text is sent to external servers by BookTalk.

Permissions Used

BookTalk requests the following permissions strictly to enable app features:

Microphone
Used to record audio annotations.

Camera
Used to scan ISBN barcodes and capture photo annotations.

Photo Library
Used to add existing photos or videos as annotations.

Speech Recognition
Used to transcribe audio annotations on-device.

Background Activity

BookTalk may continue audio recording in the background to support:

  • Ongoing audio annotations
  • Push-to-talk recording from the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island

No background activity transmits data off your device.

File Sharing

The app supports iOS file sharing so you can access your own documents. Files remain under your control and are not uploaded by the app.

Children’s Privacy

BookTalk does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Since no data is transmitted, there is no external data collection.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated policy inside the app or on the app’s website.
